Mathes Scholarships

The Trust established the Ruth Mathes Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of one of our founding members.  Memorandums of Understanding with the College of Southern Maryland, St. Mary’s College, PEARL (Morgan State), and the Chesapeake Biological Lab in Solomons have been established.  We have provided an annual award of $2,500 to each institution over the past decade. Please contact these institutions financial aid offices for details.

Research Grants

Scientific research is funded through our Research Grants. We are a Bay focused group whose area of concern is Cove Point and Hellen Creek natural areas, southern Calvert County, and Southern Maryland. These grants can be for one or more years and are for the purpose of scientific research that produces a paper or report accessible from our web page. Grant Range $1,000 to $20,000.
