Want to get involved?

Our annual education activities include working in the public schools, presentations to various adult groups, and assistance to other non-profits in their programming including support of two Master Naturalist annual training activities. Workshops for scouts and other groups are held along with seasonal nature walks open to the general public.

We provide a location for overnight camping for Boy Scouts at our Preserve. We are a member of the Sustainable Calvert Network where we work with our partners in advocating for land protection in Calvert County.

Research.

Research opportunities at Cove Point are abundant. Long term efforts include monitoring of plant populations in the Cove Point marsh and well as surveys on horseshoe crab activities at the Cove Point beach.

Room to grow.

The Trust continues to explore possibilities for new land acquisition. Our latest acquisition of property expanded our footprint in the Hellen Creek watershed. The talks concerning acquisition of the adjacent TNC Hemlock Preserve continue with some hope of resolution in the near future. Meanwhile we continue to monitor our other parcels and continue the preservation and restoration work at Hellen Creek.
